Google Entering Social Media with Buzz

Yesterday Google announced and released a new product that appears in your Gmail account called Google Buzz. It appears they are trying to compete with the Facebooks and Twitters  of the world by creating a social network out your Gmail contacts.

Personally, I think they should leave that kind of stuff out of the Gmail application itself. For starters, they are already backtracking on privacy issues because they automatically released private information to “followers”.  I also read an article where creative internet marketers are already figuring out how to spam the system.  Basically, like Twitter, you will all of sudden be getting requests for people to follow you.  These anonymous people have one goal in mind only: profit!  Eventually they will just start posting Buzz about CPA offers and such to try and make a quick buck off of all of their followers.

I am sure there are some interesting and worthwhile things that Buzz can offer.  But at this point do we really need another social network?
